Which iPhone should you actually buy in 2026?
From the iPhone 11 to the 16 Pro Max, here is the honest, budget-first breakdown of who each model is for.

The best iPhone is almost never the newest one. Here is how we advise customers who walk into our Nairobi collection point.
Under KSh 40,000: iPhone 11 or XR The iPhone 11 is the single best-value iPhone on the market right now. It still receives software updates, the battery life is genuinely good, and Night mode means it takes usable photos in a dim restaurant. The XR is the same idea for less money with one camera instead of two.
KSh 50,000-70,000: iPhone 12 or 13 The 12 introduced the flat-edge design, Ceramic Shield and 5G. The 13 adds a noticeably bigger battery and Cinematic mode. If you can stretch to the 13, do — the battery difference alone is worth it, and it will receive updates for longer.
KSh 80,000-110,000: iPhone 14 or 14 Pro The 14 is a refined 13. The 14 Pro is the jump: 120Hz ProMotion, the Dynamic Island, an always-on display and a 48MP main sensor. If you care about photography, the Pro is the meaningful upgrade.
Above KSh 130,000: iPhone 15 Pro or 16 Pro Titanium, USB-C, the Action button and 5x optical zoom on the Max models. These are tools for people who shoot video professionally or who simply want the best available.
The mini exception If you genuinely want a small phone, the 13 mini is the last great one and prices have settled. Nothing else in this size class comes close.
What we would avoid Anything below the iPhone 8 as a primary phone in 2026. They still work, and they are excellent as backup or first phones for children, but app support is thinning out.
